This project started a little different! For their 2018 Album “Idylle”, the german Band “Heisskalt” did everything according to the release and marketing for this record themselves. “Fest” ist the last and heaviest single of the album.

Because of this fact, the band decided to shoot 3 videos for their 3 singles themselves in one session. After editing and releasing the first two they reached out for Daniel and me and asked if we could do the edit and everything else we would come up with.

So the challange was to create something with footage someone else shot with another idea in mind.

We decided to take the footage and tear it apart to the smallest pieces and put them back together to create the narrative we want it to have. As the structure of the song has a special approach to it which is kind of a linear climax, we decided to built up the visual story the same. As we mainly had clips of them performing side by side, we decided to take this as a starting point and work our way from there on.

With every cut the seemingly simple performance starts to get a little weirder. In the beginning you cannot even tell what it is, but it starts to get more and more obviously with every fram.

To make it a whole, there are two more levels that can count as some kind of meta to drive the story in addition to the slowly distorting performance scenes.

After the second chorus the song bursts out in a chaotic, ecstatic storm of pure energy. The video goes with it and the chaos factor adds to the rather minimalistic stlye till then and melts down with the end of the song. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
