“Alleine vorm Computer” is the Lead-single of Future Franz’s 2022 EP “Alleine vorm Computer”. In pandemic times, thrown back on his self, he gives us hope and confidence in sitting in front of your computer all by ourselves. A hymn for the nerds and for everyone who knows the pleasures of exploring the world wide web alone.

The Story, written by Mathias Krebser and Christina Mäckelburg, starts with a shot deep in the woods, showing a purple glooming camper. The protagonist, a indiesk dressed middle-aged guy obviously suffering from some sort of crisis, is approaching the caravan with a flyer in his hands, promising solutions for all kinds of problems at this mysterious place.

As the protagonist enters the camper, he finds himself in a weird bar / computer club / karaoke bar where everyone is looking the same, sitting in front of oldschool computers with a bottle of sparkling wine and pretzel sticks, including himself.

He’s wondering what this place is about and starts imitating the others as he doesn’t know what elso to do. After some time he realises that he begins to transform himself into one of these weirdo guys who don’t even seem to notice him.

Frightend by this circumstance he’s running to the bathroom to refresh himself and have a quick reality-check. As he lifts his head from the sink he already has even grown a beard.

The transformation is complete. The next moment he finds himself as a fully integrated member of this weird society, hammering the keys of his PC and getting lost in some kind of VR, just before he gets completly sucked into the screen.

The journey continous in the digital world now. All the grumpy computer guys, not interacting with each other, seem to have a connetion in the virtual world somehow...

A happy place where they can enjoy themselves as the people they cannot be in real life. The protagonist has finally arrived at his happy place.

With the end of the song we see the protagonist leaving the facility again, now looking exactly like the “real” Future Franz. Overwhelmed by his digital adventure he just falls out the RV and falls into a deep sleep. The world is not the same anymore...
